Evelyn June Shappley Griste

Evelyn June Shappley Griste, 91, died on December 25, 2020, at Foxbridge Senior Living in Memphis, TN. She was born September 30, 1929 in Benton County Mississippi, the daughter of Arnold B. Shappley and Erra Norene Holley Shappley. She moved to Memphis at a young age and grew up in the Berclair community. June graduated from Bartlett High School in 1947 and married BHS classmate Ira L. Griste, Jr. in 1950. She was a life-long member of the Church of Christ at the Raleigh and Berclair congregations. June worked for Memphis City Schools as an office assistance at Brownsville Road Elem. And as a secretary at Trezvant High and Whitney Elem. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Ira L. Griste, Jr. and brother Arnold Shappley, Jr. June leaves a son, David Griste (Linda) of Sardis, MS, a daughter, Debbie Griste-Evans (David) of Bartlett, TN, 4 grandsons and 8 great grandchildren. A private family graveside service will be held on Monday, December 28 at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue in Memphis.
