Doris Wamble Reed-Peel

April 13, 1925 - April 4, 2022

Doris Mae Wamble Reed Peel went to her heavenly home on April 4, 2022, just before celebrating her 97th birthday. Doris was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend. She was born to Otis and Mae Wamble on April 13, 1925 in Nebo/Yorkville, Tennessee. After graduating from high school, Doris moved from Nebo to Memphis where she met her husband and they had one child: Presley Orelle Reed, Jr, MD. Doris was predeceased by her parents, sisters, and brother, as well as her husband, Louis Leroy Peel in 2015. She is survived by her son, Dr Presley Reed and his wife, Stacey of Boulder, CO and her three grandchildren. Doris was a proud grandmother of Dr. Kathlyn Reed of San Diego, CA; Meredith Reed of Los Angeles, CA; and Presley O Reed III of Tacoma, WA, and nieces and nephews. Doris was a valued Secretary for the Shelby County Department of Personnel for more than 20 years. She loved cooking delicious meals and baking for her family. She was also skilled in sewing, crochet, knitting, and cross stitch. She was an active member of the Woodlawn Chapter of Eastern Star and past Worthy Matron. Doris and Louis were members of Open Door Bible Church. The family wishes to express special gratitude for Vickey McGee who was Doris’ and Louis’ longtime caregiver and friend. A graveside service is scheduled for 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Memorial Park Cemetery, with a visitation, which will be held on the same day from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm at Memorial Park Funeral Home.
