Alice Goldsby Bray Smith left this world on November 17, 2020. She was the daughter of the late John David Goldsby and Ruth Carlisle Goldsby. Alice was raised in Shelby County in the small community of Lucy. She was married to Frank Edward Bray (d. 1992) and Harold Faught Smith (d. 2014). She fondly referred to them as Husband #1 and Husband #2. Harold Smith was a captain in the US Air Force. Alice and her first husband Frank were members of Frayser Baptist Church where they taught in the High School Bible Study class. They were later members of Bellevue Baptist Church where Frank served as a deacon. Alice and Frank were active in the Sanctuary Choir under the direction of Dr. Tommy Lane and then Dr. Jim Whitmire. Alice also served in the Women's Ministries and the Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary Liaison Committee. For many years, Alice was a member of the Duration Club and DurArts. She was a charter member of the Scenic Hills Garden Club. Alice retired from International Harvester as a Regional Service Manager. She would serve IH clients from all over the world who referred to her as “that Southern Lady”. Alice loved to entertain and held many lovely parties in her homes in Memphis and Nesbit, Mississippi. She also enjoyed hosting parties and dinner events while living at Trezevant Terrace. In her last days, Alice was a resident of Trezevant Terrace Assisted Living where she cherished her beautiful apartment and the live music events held there. She was grateful for the care and many kindnesses of all the Trezevant staff. Alice will be missed by many friends and some of her family. Private services will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at Memorial Park Mausoleum. Memorials may be sent to Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary, 2095 Appling Road, Cordova, Tennessee 38016.
