Odd how names or memories pop into your brain so fresh it's like you are actually experiencing it. Roland often comes to mind like that allot, maybe because he was the first person to take my interest in studio recording seriously. I'm privileged to say I studied under him. I was also in the studio under Roland's tutorlage as the younger set began to experiment with rap. So unassuming a guy he was but a real quiet presence. Probably from the fact he had conquered so many mountains, he had nothing to prove but an ocean of knowledge to bestow if you just stopped and listened. I know this late but those memories came in strong today and I'm so much happier for it. Thanks Roland.

What a wonderful man. We want to look at Phillip's studio and he was there. He invited us in. We were going down to record somewhere. He actually ended up recording with us for almost 6 hours. I have so much video footage. Such an amazing man. The CD turned out wonderful. He said Kevin Jordan who was recording was a triple threat because he could sing, write music and play the guitar, drums and piano. It was so exciting for him to play the piano that was played on by so many great artists. It was such a wonderful day. God bless you Roland. Rest in peace my friend

We want to record down in memphis. We decided to visit Phillips studio. Roland was there. He invited us in. We spent 6 hours of recording there and he hardly charges anything. Made a wonderful CD for us. I have so much footage. What a wonderful man he was. Rest in peace my friend

Roland was my Mom’s first cousin,I remember when I was down in Noble at Grandpa & Grandmas house that he gave me my first guitar I was so proud of it,I had laid it down next to a big rock it must of slid on the ground cause when I came back my Uncle larry drove over it.Gee that was back in the late 50’s.I’m so happy that I have Rolands album “Guitarville” RIP Roland Love Carol (Clark) Maessner

So sorry to hear of Mr. Janes’ passing. He was a wonderful man who helped many musicians in his lifetime. My Son, John Paul Keith, is one of them. John really cherished the time they had together in the Phillips’ Studio. Mr. Janes treated him almost like another son. John learned a wealth of life-lessons from him.
