Jerry Franklin Corlew, 82, retired United Methodist minister, died on Sunday evening, December 13th in Germantown, Tennessee. He was born in Jackson, Tennessee on June 14, 1933, to Milton and Ruby Corlew, who predeceased him. He i Read Obituary

It was an honor to meet Jerry and Martha when Emily and I first came to Memphis in 1971. He was UM Neighborhood Centers Executive Director at the time, and I followed him in that work in 1979, with Cecil Kirk and Allen Broyles serving between our tenures. Jerry had done the crucial task of uniting Bethlehem Center and Wesley House into UMNC in 1969 with gracious leaders Elizabeth Poole and Edna Poole. Then we all admired his formative work alongside Paul Eubanks and others with Wesley Housing. It might be little known that Jerry was an excellent basketball player. He especially enjoyed going over to Jackson with our district preachers’ team and thrashing their team that included Frank McRae! Fondly, R. Mark Matheny
