The Ashby family were our neighbors for more than 12 years in Germantown. He always had a smile on his face and a chuckle in his voice. He loved people and life. I don’t think a day went by they he didn’t call out a hello to my husband. He loved talking football. Then we moved to Collierville. One morning I heard that familiar chuckle and hello. Allen was driving a school bus and stopped momentarily to let us know his route took him by our house. So either morning or afternoon, if one of us was in our yard when the school bus came by, we would hear the horn and see him wave. Allen you will be greatly missed by all that knew you. My love and prayer to Gail, Kevin, Kris and those grandkids.

My thoughts and prayers are with Gail, Kevin, Kris and their families. I will miss Allen sitting in his chair watching me work in the yard or garage, and offering suggestions on what else I can do to keep busy. Denise and I always felt a little safer knowing he was keeping an eye on the neighborhood. May care and love of those around you provide comfort and peace to get you through the days ahead. My name is Denise and I live across the street from Allen and Gail. My husband, David and I have been the Ashby’s neighbors now for almost 10 years and every morning and evening, I would see Allen out in his garage, sitting in his chair watching TV or checking out what was going on around the neighborhood. He and I didn’t talk very much because I think he couldn’t hear me very well, but, he loved talking with my husband, David and my son, Jordan. Of course, their voices are much deeper than mine. But, he would give me a friendly wave now and then when he was outside. I considered him my personal neighborhood watchman because I could count on him to always be there. Just seeing him there made me feel more secure. I will miss seeing him from my side of the street. I feel like our neighborhood will never be the same.My heart goes out to Gail, Kevin, Chris and the girls. They know that if there is anything they need, both David and I are right across the street.Our deepest sympathies,Denise Bohl
