Al’s firm of Nelson, Novell, Wilson, McRae, Ivy and Farmer was the first firm I joined after graduation from law school. All of the lawyers, but especially Al, were very nice and pleasant to work with. A recent graduate knows practically nothing about the practice of law and to have the guidance and patience of Al, Fred Wilson, Fred Ivy, Ralph Farmer and the other associates with whom I worked, was an honor for me. Except for Ralph Farmer and Judge Buford Wells (who I helped campaign for when he ran for General Sessions Judge so I could have his office) both of whom I think are still alive, all of the partners have passed on, but I wanted to write a note to let the family know that Al was a first class guy and a well-respected lawyer.
