NELL NELSON WALKER, 89, passed away July 23 at Methodist Hospital North. She was preceded in death by her husband Theria Ford Walker in 1986. She was a long time and active member of Broadmoor Baptist Church in Raleigh where she resided from 1970 until earlier this year when she moved to Kirby Pines Retirement Community. She was born in Memphis but lived over the entire world with her husband and family in the United States Air Force. She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Walker, son Terry Walker, granddaughter Katherine Sanderson, grandson Andrew Walker and great-grandchildren Caroline and William Sanderson, sister Bettie Nelson Jensen and several nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements are with Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar, (901) 767-8930. The memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:30 Wednesday July 28 in the Fireside Chapel with visitation immediately before the memorial service at 1:30. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the charity of one’s choice.
